Wow i forgot what it was like to practise guitar continously for 2 hours straight. I miss playing in a band that I was comfortable with.
Had a jamming session with Samson and Addie just now. Though i must say Addie and I miss our dear drummer Raymond, we had an awesome time playing the songs we knew. It reminded me of how much i missed playing guitar.. Now those of you who think that i gave up guitar previously, i didn't. It's just that i haven't practised my electric at all. All i've been doing is just trying out new chords on my acoustic that didn't really sound as nice as the ones i discovered earlier. =/.. AH WELLS.
OK for those of you who want to know the story on how i missed my flight back to kk, i will now type out the usual detailed story that most of you won't read. wahahha..
Hooray! T'was the day i'm supposed to leave for Kota kinabalu and see my friends again!.. It was 4:50am in the morning and i was happily taking a shower and suprisingly awake considering that it was so early in the morning. I took my list of things that i needed to bring and i ticked them slowly off my list as i packed them into my backpack.
When it arrived at "Boarding pass/Itinerary reciept", i looked on my table, knowing that it should be on the same place i left it that morning before i left for church. 2 sheets of paper were turned upside down, with 4 pieces of stapled paper folded up placed neatly above the 2 sheets. I grabbed the 4 pieces of stapled paper, looked at the title, in which it said: "Itinerary receipt", and stuffed it in my backpack. Little did i know that this little error cost me $400AUD, a price i would have to pay for my costly mistake.
Thinking i had everything, i knocked my sister's door and called her up to take me to the airport. My sister confirmed with me whether i had my boarding pass with me and i affirmed it, again without looking inside my bag.
When we arrived at the airport, my sister and i said our goodbyes quickly because it was nearly boarding time, and i jogged off straight away to customs since i previously printed out my boarding pass and checked in online. When i arrived at customs, i looked in my bag and realised "Hey.. wait a minute. where's my boarding pass?" I searched frantically around my bag, hoping and praying it was there. Suddenly realising that i didn't bring it, i called my sister, informing her that i couldn't find it. She told me to check the counter and see whether they would allow me to get another boarding pass using my itinerary receipt.
I ran downstairs to the check in counter and found that there was nobody on duty. All except for one lady who was in the Qantas counter. I excused the next group in line and went on forward to ask her whether it was possible for me to get another boarding pass from there. She told me, unfortunately, that i was too late.
She told me that i may be able to get one at customs, and that they may let me through. I ran as fast as i could upstairs to customs and waited in line. While waiting, i realised there were some people off duty and just "lepaking" around. So i called them over and asked them whether it was possible that i could get a boarding pass from here. They told me to run downstairs and ask the lady at the check in counter. I told them there was nobody left there, and they told me they would call someone to go on duty.
I ran downstairs, praying that I would be able to get a flight. As i got to the check in counter, there was another guy there, around 19/20 years old, asking me whether i had missed my flight too. LOL. I told him it wasn't over yet, as my sister was on her way with my boarding pass. We waited for the check in counter lady to come, in which it took around 7 minutes before she finally appeared. She then told us that we were too late and there was nothing we could do about it. I told her i had a sister coming with my boarding pass and she said that it was useless. That boarding pass is only available if it's handed in to the check-in counter and changed for a proper boarding pass. -.-"
My sister then called, telling me that she had arrived. I rushed to her car, and thanked her. I then sped upstairs to customs and showed them my boarding pass and my passport. They had to check with the other officers to see whether it was valid. They affirmed it and they said the flight was leaving in 15 minutes. They told me to run upstairs quickly before it left. I could see that they were really entertained by all this. I guess their job was so boring that they couldn't resist chuckling that a 19 year old asian was panting and pleading with them to let him through.
I darted pass the "checking metal thingi" and ran up another floor of stairs. When i arrived at my destination, i was thinking to myself: "if they let me in through customs, and they gave them a call, i'm bound to be able to get my flight."..
As soon as i got there, 3 ladies, all looking haggard and tired, turned to me and sharply asked me: "WHO are YOU?". I said that I was late for my flight and i have my boarding pass with me. I handed them my piece of paper and they studied it for a moment and finally said: "THIS ISN'T A PROPER BOARDING PASS".. They then went on to call one of their people, and they argued with them saying that it wasn't a proper boarding pass and that i was late. They then proceeded in asking them whether i should be getting on the flight. The response was: "negative".
I was shocked, i was in dismay, i felt like my whole world was crumbling down. I had just wasted my parents a huge sum of money. A sum of money that is equal to the amount some people in malaysia earn in a month.
When i confirmed with them that i was not allowed on the flight, they affirmed it with a "yes" and nothing more. I then walked off silently back to the customs department. Not before one of the officers took me by the shoulder and asked me whether there was anybody escorting me. I told him no, and he gave someone a call and told that person that i wasn't escorted and that those people needed to be dealt with.
After hearing that, i felt satisfied. They could have let me on if they wanted to. The boarding pass had all the details they needed. They were just lazy and tired and couldn't be bothered to do anything.
I then proceeded to walk downstairs to my sister. On the way, i passed by 2 of the girls that had turned me away. Suddenly, one of them called out to me. In shock, thinking that i had caused trouble for them, i responded and they came over. Thankfully, there wasn't any problem. All there was, was that they had to double-check that they had cancelled my flight arrangements so i didn't have any problem booking another flight. While one of the ladies went to check, the other one escorted me and sat next to me.
I began talking to her, asking her whether my boarding pass was actually valid. She told me no, that i had to pass it in to the check in counter before anything. I then proceeded to ask her what time did the check in counter close usually. She responded saying that usually 30 mins before the flight leaves. Then I started asking her about her job. And she told me that it was pretty tiring and etc.
When the other lady came back, she told me i was fine to go. And so i left. After getting to my feet, and walking a few steps away, i overheard them saying "I feel pretty bad. I wish we let him on.. "
I felt like turning around and punching her in the face and asking her "THEN WHY DIDN'T U." but ah wells. that's for those people who are more physical. :)
That's pretty much the story of how i missed my flight.
